The Mid-Atlantic Neurodiagnostic Society, a chapter of ASET, was originated in 2010. The society was inspired by Martha Digiovine with Marisha Hamid serving as its founder and first President. Our society spans the states of Kentucky, Maryland, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Virginia and West Virginia.

The Mid-Atlantic Neurodiagnostic Society (MANS), a non-profit organization, is dedicated to advancing the field of neurodiagnostics through education, advocacy, and professional development. Our society brings together neurodiagnostic technologists from the Mid-Atlantic region, offering a platform to exchange knowledge, best practices, and the latest advancements in neurodiagnostic technology.

Meet The Team

President

Jesse Hunt, B.S., R. EEG T.

Jesse is currently a Lead Monitoring Technologist at Stratus Neuro. Jesse has worked tirelessly as President Elect (formerly Treasurer and Secretary) to update the methods of accounting and ensure the financial viability of the Mid-Atlantic Neurodiagnostic Society. His professional career as a neurodiagnostic technologist began at WVU Medicine over seven years ago where he trained in EEG, NCS, and EMU modalities. Jesse holds a BS in Exercise Physiology from West Virginia University in addition to the R. EEG T. credential.

President-Elect

Amber Howdershelt, B.S., R. EEG T.

Amber’s passion for the neurodiagnostic profession has quickly led her to a leadership position as a Clinical Preceptor at WVU Medicine. She is also an extraordinary communicator and has been an essential force behind the organizational success of the Mid-Atlantic Neurodiagnostic Society. Beginning her healthcare journey over eleven years ago as a nurse’s aide, she developed EEG, EMG, TCD, SPECT, EP, EMU, and sEEG competencies since discovering the neurodiagnostic profession approximately five years ago. Amber holds a BS in Healthcare Management and an AS in Health Sciences from Fairmont State University, along with the R. EEG T. credential.

Secretary

Daniel Imperio

Daniel Imperio has been with Ruby for nearly three years, currently working as a Night Shift Technologist at WVU Medicine. He is a Registered EEG Technologist with a keen interest in animal EEGs and their similarities to human EEGs. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Animal and Nutritional Sciences from West Virginia University and is passionate about exploring neurological parallels across species. Daniel currently serves as charge tech and is highly regarded by leadership.

Treasurer

Cassandra Payne

Cassandra began her career in neurodiagnostics over six years ago and is currently working as a Technologist in the Neuro Labs at West Virginia University Medicine. With a passion for learning and continual education, Cassandra quickly gained fluency in EEG, EMU, EMG, SPECT, EP, sEEG, and TCD modalities. She started out in healthcare as a scheduler in Medical Specialties before knowing about neurodiagnostics. Cassandra earned a Bachelor of Arts degree with a double major in Philosophy and Women and Gender studies from West Virginia University.

Dreux Priore

Currently a Director of Education at UPMC, Dreux transitioned to a career in neurodiagnostics from a background in digital content development and educational television. His vision for the future of the Mid-Atlantic Neurodiagnostic Society includes building on its existing reputation for outstanding education opportunities while improving outreach and recognition of the neurodiagnostic profession. Dreux holds an MHA with a concentration in Population Health from Duquesne University in addition to the R. EEG T. and R. NCS T. credentials.

Margie Dieter-Murphy

Margie Dieter-Murphy is currently the Administrative Director of the Neuroscience Service Line at Crozer-Keystone Health System where she was formerly the Clinical Director of the laboratory. Margie has been a registered EEG and EP technologist for 25 years. Her extensive commitment to neurodiagnostic education includes service as a volunteer in several EEG societies and involvement with the long-established Crozer-Chester Medical Center School of Clinical Neurophysiology. Margie also enjoys reading, walking, and spending time with family down at the beach when she isn’t learning about the latest developments in neurodiagnostic technology.

Sheraz Ahmad

Sheraz Ahmad has been at WVU Medicine for two years, working as a Night Shift Technologist. He has a strong interest in reflex epilepsy, particularly musicogenic epilepsy. Sheraz earned a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration and Leadership, and is currently working towards obtaining his EEG registry. Sheraz currently serves as a charge tech and is highly relied upon for his knowledge and skills.

Marie Hamid

Currently the EEG supervisor at Rady Children’s Hospital in San Diego where shemaintains an influential teaching role, Marisha’s remarkable four-decade career started at the Great Ormond Street Children’s Hospital in London. She revolutionized the training of EEG technologists during her tenure at West Virginia University Medicine and

her legacy of teaching has become the career foundation of numerous technologists currently working in the region and beyond.

A long-time advocate of protecting neurodiagnostic technologists’ scope of practice, Marisha was awarded the 2015 Maureen Berkeley Memorial Award for her compelling Neurodiagnostic Journal article titled “Licensure: If Not Now, When?” She has also authored neonatal research appearing in prestigious journals including Epilepsia, Pediatrics, and Pediatric Quality and Safety. Marisha previously served the Mid-Atlantic Neurodiagnostic Society as a Charter Member, Interim and First President. Believing in the strong support and friendship building experience that conferences offer, she notes that attendees return to their place of work not only with additional knowledge and ideas to improve patient care but build long lasting friendships with other similar minded people who love taking care of patients.
